The Kanohi Mahiki is the Mask of Illusion.

The Kanohi Mahiki allows its wearer to create spectacular optical illusions; the Great Mahiki also allows its user a limited degree of shapeshifting. The user can change the way others see them and imitate voices, but cannot copy any powers the original has. The Noble version allows the wearer to create optical illusions, and thus can change their appearance, but cannot physically shapeshift. The Kanohi Rode will see through all illusions and shapeshifting caused by a Mahiki, while a Kanohi Elda will allow its user to sense a being hidden by an illusion, though not their identity or true appearance.

A Mahiki Nuva is created when a destined Mahiki is dipped in Energized Protodermis. In addition to its standard abilities, its range is increased, its effects last longer, and its power can be shared with individuals near the user; however, it can only be used by Nuva beings.

Great

As a 2AP action, the wearer may spend 1 or more Kanohi Charges to choose one of the following effects:

  • The wearer transforms into another being. They gain the physical Attribute Scores of that being, along with its AC and any abilities that are linked directly to its physical form (such as a claw attack) but not any powers (such as a Kranua’s ability to turn into sand, or a Rahkshi’s powers) that that being may have. They retain all the rest of their own stats and abilities (including the ability to do things like speak) that the shifted form may not have. The wearer’s form is physically indistinguishable from the original being.

For each additional Kanohi Charge spent, increase the duration as is standard, and the wearer gains ADV X (where X is equal to the number of additional KC spent) on any Focus checks to maintain Concentration. This transformation lasts for 1 hour (or until cancelled by the user), and requires Focus.

  • The wearer creates a visual illusion anywhere within 60ft that occupies a 10ftX10ftX10ft cube that lasts for the duration of the effect. For each additional Kanohi Charge spent, they may either increase the dimensions of the cube by 5ft on each side, or create another 10ftX10ftX10ft illusion. The illusions cannot be visually identified as illusions, and beings will treat them as though they were solid unless they realize that they are illusions (the illusions are not solid - they cannot deal damage, or support weight if, say, used as a bridge).

Any being that interacts with an illusion makes a WILL save (DC +4, INT/CHA); if they succeed, they realize that it is an illusion.

Noble

As a 2AP action, the wearer may spend 1 or more Kanohi Charges to choose one of the following effects:

  • The wearer visually disguises themself as another being. They retain all of their own stats and abilities, and do not gain any of the abilities of the mimicked being. Any being that interacts with this illusion makes a WILL save (DC +2, INT/CHA); if they succeed, they realize that it is an illusion.

For each additional Kanohi Charge spent, increase the duration as is standard, and the wearer gains ADV X (where X is equal to the number of additional KC spent) on any Focus checks to maintain Concentration. This disguise lasts for 30 minutes (or until cancelled by the user), and requires Focus.

  • The wearer creates a visual illusion anywhere within 45ft that occupies a 5ftX5ftX5ft cube that lasts for the duration of the effect. For each additional Kanohi Charge spent, they may either increase the dimensions of the cube by 5ft on each side, or create another 5ftX5ftX5ft illusion. The illusions cannot be visually identified as illusions, and beings will treat them as though they were solid unless they realize that they are illusions (the illusions are not solid - they cannot deal damage, or support weight if, say, used as a bridge).

Any being that interacts with an illusion makes a WILL save (DC +0, INT/CHA); if they succeed, they realize that it is an illusion.

Great Nuva

For each additional Kanohi Charge spent, triple the duration (instead of the standard doubling), and the wearer gains ADV X (where X is equal to the number of additional KC spent) on any Focus checks to maintain Concentration. This transformation lasts for 2 hours (or until cancelled by the user), and requires Focus.

  • The wearer creates a visual illusion anywhere within 90ft that occupies a 10ftX10ftX10ft cube that lasts for the duration of the effect.

Any being that interacts with an illusion makes a WILL save (DC +5, INT/CHA); if they succeed, they realize that it is an illusion.

Noble Nuva

As a 2AP action, the wearer may spend 1 or more Kanohi Charges to choose one of the following effects:

  • The wearer visually disguises themself as another being. They retain all of their own stats and abilities, and do not gain any of the abilities of the mimicked being. Any being that interacts with this illusion makes a WILL save (DC +3, INT/CHA); if they succeed, they realize that it is an illusion.

For each additional Kanohi Charge spent, triple the duration (instead of the standard doubling), and the wearer gains ADV X (where X is equal to the number of additional KC spent) on any Focus checks to maintain Concentration. This disguise lasts for 30 minutes (or until cancelled by the user), and requires Focus.

  • The wearer creates a visual illusion anywhere within 60ft that occupies a 5ftX5ftX5ft cube that lasts for the duration of the effect.

Any being that interacts with an illusion makes a WILL save (DC +1, INT/CHA); if they succeed, they realize that it is an illusion.

Models

Three official Mahiki models were made by LEGO: the standard Great, standard Noble, and Hordika.

RSG has an unofficial Mahiki model: the standard Nuva (designed by Oomatu and Perp3tual and crafted by Petrus and HahliNuva).
