The Kanohi Mahiki is the Mask of Illusion. A Mahiki Nuva is created when a destined Mahiki is exposed to Energized Protodermis.
The Kanohi Mahiki allows the user to create optical illusions. The Great mask additionally allows the user a limited degree of shapeshifting, and lets them mimic voices.
The Great Kanohi Mahiki allows the user to create spectacular optical illusions. The mask is able to create multiple illusions at once. Additionally, the user to imitate the voices and physically shapeshift into forms of similar size to the user. While they cannot copy powers of beings they shapeshift into, they do gain physical physical characterists such as claws or wings. The user cannot create illusions while shapeshifted, and they will not remain shapeshifted if the mask is removed.
The Great mask is able to create illusions that are larger and further away than those created by the Noble Mahiki.

Illusions created by higher level disks are able to be maintained for a longer duration.
- The Kanohi Rode is able to see through all illusions, including voice mimicking and shapeshifting, made by a Mahiki.
- The Kanohi Elda is able to sense beings hidden by illusions, but is not able to discern their true identity or appearance.
- The Kanohi Akaku Nuva is able to see through illusions created by the Mahiki, but not shapeshifting or voice imitations.
- The Mahiki is able to fool technological systems, since its effects are optical or physical, rather than mental.

Models
Three official Mahiki models were made by LEGO: the standard Great, standard Noble, and Hordika.
RSG has an unofficial Mahiki model: the standard Nuva (designed by Oomatu and Perp3tual and crafted by Petrus and HahliNuva).
