The Kanohi Hau is the Mask of Shielding.
The Kanohi Hau creates a shield of energy around the wearer. While the wearer can still breathe, no object, gas, or attack except for unpolluted air can pass through either side of the shield. That said, ethereal elemental attacks, psionic powers, or other effects of an ethereal nature, can all pass through the shield, affecting their target unhindered. The shield is weightless, and does not impede the movement of the user. The shield is only large enough to contain and protect the wearer of the Kanohi Hau, and cannot contain or protect other beings (the shield will push them away from the Hau wearer if activated).
A Hau Nuva is created when a destined Hau is dipped in Energized Protodermis. In addition to its standard abilities, the strength of the shield it generates is increased, and its power can be shared with individuals near the user; however, it can only be used by Nuva beings.
In the Doronai Nui
Great
As a 1AP action, the wearer may spend 1 or more Kanohi Charges to create the above-described shield around themself. The shield lasts for 10 rounds, though can be lowered early as a 0AP action. Whenever the shield suffers damage, the wearer must make a Focus check with a DC equal to the damage dealt. They add 10+X to their roll, and have ADVX on this check, where X is the number of Kanohi Charges spent. If they fail their Focus check, they are unable to maintain the shield, it immediately lowers, and any damage in excess of the Focus result is suffered by the wearer; if they succeed, they suffer no damage or effects from the attack.
Noble
As a 1AP action, the wearer may spend 1 or more Kanohi Charges to create the above-described shield around themself. The shield lasts for 10 rounds, though can be lowered early as a 0AP action. Whenever the shield suffers damage, the wearer must make a Focus check with a DC equal to the damage dealt. They add 5+X to their roll, and have ADVX on this check, where X is half the number of Kanohi Charges spent (rounded up). If they fail their Focus check, they are unable to maintain the shield, it immediately lowers, and any damage in excess of the Focus result is suffered by the wearer; if they succeed, they suffer no damage or effects from the attack.
Great Nuva
As a 1AP action, the wearer may spend 1 or more Kanohi Charges to create the above-described shield around themself and any beings they choose to share the Kanohi Activation with, per the Nuva Kanohi rules. The shield lasts for 10 rounds, though can be lowered early as a 0AP action. Whenever the shield suffers damage, the wearer must make a Focus check with a DC equal to the damage dealt. They add 10+X to their roll, and have ADVX on this check, where X is equal to twice the number of Kanohi Charges spent. If they fail their Focus check, they are unable to maintain the shield, it immediately lowers, and any damage in excess of the Focus result is suffered by the wearer; if they succeed, they suffer no damage or effects from the attack.
Noble Nuva
