The Kanohi Kaketo is the Mask of Elemental Energy.
The Kanohi Kaketo allows the user to tap into a secondary pool of elemental energy in addition to their own. The bearer can call upon this secondary pool to reinforce their natural pool of elemental energy, using them to power elemental attacks. This pool of elemental energy does not regenerate, unlike the natural sources available to elementally-attuned beings, and dissipates when the mask is out of use.
Many Kanohi Kaketo are made using a special protodermis infusion technique that fills a fragile lattice of protodermis with raw elemental energy. As a result, the vast majority of Kanohi Kaketo are consumed totally by their first use, although permanent Kanohi Kaketo do exist which are not consumed by use.
A Kaketo Nuva is created when a destined Kaketo is dipped in Energized Protodermis. In addition to its standard abilities, the amount of elemental energy it restores is increased, and its power can be shared with individuals near the user; however, it can only be used by Nuva beings.
