The Kanohi Avohkii is the Mask of Light. An Avohkii Nuva is created when a destined Avohkii is exposed to Energized Protodermis.
The Kanohi Avohkii grants its user access to the power of elemental Light. The mask relies on its own elemental energy pool when using the mask's elemental abilities. There are limits to said abilities, and as such Avohkii-bearers do not have access to the full range of powers available to beings naturally-attuned to the element of Light.
The Great Kanohi Avohkii grants the user access to the elemental power of Light at Toa-level while worn. The mask does not boost any pre-existing powers or recharge the user's own elemental energy pool. It relies on its own separate and finite elemental energy pool, and the user can (with skill) use the mask simultaneously as an innate power. The mask does not grant the user any innate elemental abilities such as resistances, and does not have the ability to absorb its element. It also does not grant species-specific elemental abilites such as nova blasts.
The Noble Kanohi Avohkii grants the user access to the elemental power of Light at Turaga-level while worn.

Light disks may cause a variety of different effects relating to the element of Light.

Usage
Only one Avohkii has existed in the history of the Matoran universe - that worn by Toa Takanuva. This mask was forged by Artakha as a safeguard, should the Brotherhood of Makuta ever turn evil. This mask possessed a number of additional traits not possessed by standard Avohkii:
- It was forged out of a material that was naturally gold when not worn.
- It was able to spread understanding to other beings, generating peace.
- It allowed its wearer to sense the moral light in others.
- It was able to glow even when not worn, and especially glowed when in contact with the Av-Matoran Takua.
- It changed shape when worn by beings of shadow.
- Like a Toa Stone, it was imbued with Toa Power. This power was used up when Takua was transformed into Takanuva.
The mask was briefly fused with Makuta Teridax's Kraahkan as the mask worn by Takutanuva. In this form, it possessed the powers of both masks.
Versions of this mask from alternate universes has since been brought to the main universe, alongside their bearers - an army of Shadow Takanuva.
Models
Two official Avohkii models were made by LEGO: the standard Great and an enlarged variant Great.
RSG has made a unofficial model for the standard Noble shape of the Avohkii, designed by Oomatu and crafted by Petrus.
