The Kanohi Akaku is the Mask of Piercing Vision (X-Ray Vision).

The Kanohi Akaku can be used to see through most solid materials, mists, aerosols, fog, et cetera, provided the material makeup of the substance does not contain lead, protolead, Energized Protodermis, protosteel, or certain other minor dense materials (such as those found in the mists of Karda Nui or the walls of the Domes).

An Akaku Nuva is created when a destined Akaku is dipped in Energized Protodermis. In addition to its standard abilities, its range is increased, it can see through most illusions, and its power can be shared with individuals near the user; however, it can only be used by Nuva beings.

The Kanohi Akaku is most commonly fitted with a set of three zoom lenses on a slider over its right eye, which can magnify the wearer’s vision 2x, 5x, and 10x normal (which also magnifies the distance that they can see through).

In the Doronai Nui

Great

As a 0AP action, the wearer may spend 1 or more Kanohi Charges to gain the ability to see through opaque objects up to a range of 50ft on the x-ray spectrum. For each additional Kanohi Charge spent, add the length of the original duration to the total duration, and double the range of this mask’s x-ray vision effect.

Noble

As a 0AP action, the wearer may spend 1 or more Kanohi Charges to gain the ability to see through opaque objects up to a range of 10ft on the x-ray spectrum. For each additional Kanohi Charge spent, add the length of the original duration to the total duration, and double the range of this mask’s x-ray vision effect.

Great Nuva

As a 0AP action, the wearer may spend 1 or more Kanohi Charges to gain the ability to see through opaque objects up to a range of 60ft on the x-ray spectrum, and the ability to detect and see through any illusions within that range. For each additional Kanohi Charge spent, add the length of the original duration to the total duration, and double the range of this mask’s x-ray vision effect.

Noble Nuva

As a 0AP action, the wearer may spend 1 or more Kanohi Charges to gain the ability to see through opaque objects up to a range of 20ft on the x-ray spectrum, and the ability to detect and see through any illusions within that range. For each additional Kanohi Charge spent, add the length of the original duration to the total duration, and double the range of this mask’s x-ray vision effect.

Additional notes

Unless the GM rules otherwise, a Kanohi Akaku-wearer can take the zoom lens upgrade for free when starting a campaign.

Models

Two official Akaku models were made by LEGO: the standard Great and aerial Noble. Two official Akaku Nuva models were made by LEGO: the standard Great Nuva and aerial Great Nuva.
