Rusa

Rusa was an island in the Matoran Universe.

Overview

For much of its existence, this tiny, uninhabited island was regularly used by the Brotherhood of Makuta as a testing ground for new Bohi and Rahi creations – and thus sported some of the most diverse wildlife in the Matoran universe, hosting a variety of species that couldn’t be found anywhere else.

History

The island was never formally settled by Oropi because the Makuta discouraged it – ostensibly for safety reasons, as Rusa was populated by all manner of exotic (and highly dangerous) flora and fauna, although it’s speculated that the Brotherhood more likely wanted to be able to run their experiments in secret. After one of their number was even rumored to have died in the process of testing their latest creation, the Makuta abandoned Rusa entirely.

The island was subsequently sold to the Vortixx, who proceeded to destroy it in order to clear a major trade route between Xia and Metru Nui. Not far from Rusa’s coast lay a major Gawalai undersea settlement, which survived the destruction of the island unscathed.

Landscape

Prior to its destruction, Rusa was occupied by a variety of unusual flora and fauna placed there by the Brotherhood of Makuta.
