History

Rumors say that a Hand of Artakha base was once located on the island, although this has now become all but impossible for scholars to confirm. Following a raid led by Makuta Kojol to obtain the fabled Kanohi Avohkii, the Mask of Light, Artahka’s connections with the rest of the universe were finally severed completely: all those who knew of Artakha’s location mysteriously fell victim to strange accidents and assassinations, and the neighboring island of Dhartai was dismantled entirely.

Landscape

The secrecy surrounding Artakha’s location is only one of the many defensive measures used to keep the island isolated. The oceans and skies around it teem with hostile Rahi, and sophisticated defense mechanisms – as well as the four enormous Crystal Serpents residing in the island’s four corners – would deter most beings from approaching without very good reason. Additionally, Artahka controls both the shape and the weather of his island, and has means of detecting anyone who sets foot there uninvited.

Society

Artahka is a legendary island that many consider to be no more than a myth – for its location is unknown to all but a select few beings. What most beings can agree on, however, is that the most powerful artifacts known in the Matoran universe, if not made by the Great Beings themselves, can only come from Artakha. According to legend, only the best craftsmen may ever be allowed to set foot on Artakha, to forever work happily for the island’s benevolent ruler who gave the place its name – Artakha, the Master of Creation.
