History

After the League of Six Kingdoms fell, the small island of Kaugamua, located in the center of the Tren Krom River, was added to Asonara’s territory as part of a political maneuver in the hopes of weakening the neighboring region of Monuhi. However, the effects of the change were largely judicial, as Kaugamua remains firmly intertwined with Monuhi’s economy.

Landscape

The isolated desert zone at the center of the Southern Continent is a place where few beings dare to tread. High mountain ranges surround it on all sides, making traversal difficult; it is also the homeland of various Bomohku tribes and dangerous Rahi, both of whom know no mercy. The Green Belt that lies at the southern edge of the desert marks the only truly habitable zone of the region for those who aren’t adapted for it. Towering over the Green Belt is Mount Valmai, an active volcano responsible for the unique climatic conditions further south. During the Great Cataclysm, Asonara experienced significant damage, and much of its southern region broke off to become the island of Voya Nui, leaving a lake full of mutagenic water – created by a waterfall from the heavens – forming in its place.

Society

Some who have traveled near Asonara's Green Belt speak of colonies of malformed Matoran who bear strangely sophisticated tools and weapons that keep the Bomohku at bay. However, these so-called encounters are poorly-documented, and have been dismissed by many as little more than stories meant to scare the uninformed.
