Konora

Konora is an island in the Matoran Universe and the homeland of the Kolhaki species.

History

Konora's society was once held together by a strictly-defined set of rules, but after a particularly ambitious mercenary made a habit of repeatedly and flagrantly breaking the law, others began to follow suit, and Konora was eventually claimed by civil war. Weakened by the war, it was easy for Barraki Ehlek’s forces to subject the Kolhaki to his rule. Under Ehlek's reign, peace returned to Konora for a time, and the city of Kypraida even subsequently became the land capital of Ninaikar. When Ehlek’s empire crumbled, however, civil war once more claimed Konora when old ambitions and rivalries reignited. Only the intervention of the Brotherhood of Makuta a few centuries later reasserted law and order.

Landscape

Konora is a cold and harsh place, some even going as far as to call it a place forgotten by the Great Spirit.

Society

The Kolhaki are said to be as icy and ruthless as the island itself; to this day, the Brotherhood has its hands full maintaining the tenuous peace of Konora. It is rumored that the Makuta assigned to the island were corrupted or cursed in dealing with the Kolhaki - combined with the island's unforgiving climate and reputation for societal instability, this is enough to keep most would-be visitors away.
