Selix is an island in the Four Sisters, part of the larger Matoran Universe.

History

Selix itself lacks many of the things that typically make an international power, such as natural resources or a strategic location, both of which can be found instead on the neighboring island of Gavira. Still, its historical status as the heart of Parvamu, Barraki Kalmah’s kingdom, helped to forge lasting bonds which cemented Selix as an important part of the universe. When Selix became a political center, trade soon followed, and even after Kalmah was gone and his empire destroyed, it remained the political and economic center of the Four Sisters, especially once Gavira’s weather patterns deteriorated, leaving it much less preferable as a trade hub in comparison.

After the fall of the League of Six Kingdoms, Kalmah's headquarters were converted into the great monastery of Talarai, and a thriving city was constructed around it.

Landscape

Selix is known for its mantle of porous rock, which forms a multitude of caverns and grottoes. Many of these caves were utilized for building settlements or sites for monasteries, which form the core of Layamat society. Some of these caves even open up into the sea, forming natural harbors that make Selix an attractive spot for seagoing trade.
