History

Originally, this tiny, uninhabited island was long used by the Brotherhood of Makuta for the testing of new plant and Rahi creations – and thus sported some of the most diverse wildlife found anywhere in the Matoran Universe, with several species unique to the island. Rusa was never settled because the Makuta discouraged it for "safety reasons". After one of their number was even rumored to have died following the test of a new plant species, the Brotherhood abandoned the island.

Rusa was subsequently sold to the Vortixx, who proceeded to destroy it as an obstacle to a major trade route between Xia and Metru Nui. Not far from Rusa’s coast lay a major Gawalai undersea settlement, which survived the destruction of the island unscathed.

Landscape

Prior to its destruction, Rusa was occupied by a variety of unusual flora and fauna placed there by the Brotherhood of Makuta.
