History
Following a raid led by Makuta Kojol to obtain the fabled Kanohi Avohkii, the Mask of Light, connections with the rest of the universe were finally completely severed. All those who knew of Artakha’s location mysteriously fell victim to strange accidents and assassinations, and the neighboring island of Dhartai was dismantled.
Landscape
The secrecy surrounding Artakha's location is only one of its defensive measures used to keep it isolated. The oceans and skies around it teem with hostile Rahi, and sophisticated defense mechanisms as well as the four enormous Crystal Serpents residing in the island’s four corners would deter most beings from approach. In addition, the island’s ruler controls both the shape and the weather of his island and has means of detecting anyone who sets foot on Artakha uninvited. Rumors say a Hand of Artakha base was once located on the island.
Society
A legendary island many consider as no more than a myth – for its location is unknown to all but a select few beings. What everyone agrees on, though, is that the most powerful artifacts known in the Matoran Universe, if not made by the Great Beings themselves, can only come from Artakha. It is said that only the best craftsmen may ever be allowed to set foot on Artakha, to forever work happily for the island’s ruler who gave the place its name – Artakha, the Master of Creation.
