Silver Chute Spiders are dangerous arachnid Rahi.
History
The Silver Chute Spider species was created by the Makuta using Viruses and Liquid Protodermis to be one of the Rahi to inhabit the Matoran Universe.[1] Many took up residence on Metru Nui, where they preferred to hunt in Metru Nui's Chute System, a pattern that not even the Toa-Dark Hunter War disrupted.[2]
At one point, the webbing of Silver Chute Spiders was studied by Ga-Matoran researchers, who were hoping to learn how such a thin piece of webbing could stay so strong. If the research had succeeded, Matoran could have learned to create a lighter and stronger kind of cable than ever before. However, the Great Cataclysm put an end to that research.[3]
Silver Chute Spiders were not hunted by the Visorak.[3] However, many migrated to the swamps of Le-Wahi on Mata Nui, where they lived for 1,000 years.[4] These Silver Chute Spiders migrated back to Metru Nui when the Toa Nuva unleashed the Bohrok on the island.[5]
After the Great Spirit Robot was critically damaged in the Battle of Bara Magna, the surviving Rahi left the Matoran Universe and immigrated to Spherus Magna.[6]
Abilities and Traits
Silver Chute Spiders trap their prey, often Gukko birds, in their light but strong webbing, which contains a paralyzing venom.[3]
