Akamai was a Toa Kaita formed when Toa Mata Tahu, Pohatu and Onua merged into one being. When these three Toa became the Toa Nuva, they gained the potential to merge into the upgraded Toa Nuva Kaita Akamai Nuva.
Biography
When Toa Mata Gali was knocked unconscious in a battle against Rahi, Akamai and his brother Wairuha appeared to her in a vision, informing the Toa of their imminent arrival.[1] Later, when Kopaka was knocked unconscious by a block of ice, he experienced a similar vision including only Akamai.[2]
Because the Toa Mata were losing the fight against the Manas, they decided to form the Toa Kaita. The two Kaita realized that the energy towers in Mangaia were giving off heat that the Manas thrived on. They smashed the towers, and the Manas went into a frozen state. The two continued on deeper into Teridax's lair, where the energy of darkness was too strong, and the Toa were forced to separate.
Toa Nuva Kaita
When the Toa Mata were transformed into the Toa Nuva, they received a power boost. They retained the ability to fuse, and Akamai Nuva still had the potential to be formed.
Since Tahu has been devolved back into a Toa Mata by the Ignika, Akamai Nuva can no longer be formed.[3]
Abilities and Traits
Akamai had the Elemental Powers of Fire, Stone, and Earth, each the power of one of the Toa who composed him. He could wield these in any combination.
Akamai Nuva would have enhanced Elemental Powers were he to be formed.
Mask and Tools
Akamai wore the Kanohi Aki, the Great Mask of Valor, which gave him the Kanohi powers of Shielding, Speed, and Strength. He wielded a Fire Sword in one hand, a club in the other, and wore Feet Additions.
Akamai Nuva would have worn the Kanohi Aki Nuva, which combined the powers of the Hau Nuva, Kakama Nuva, and Pakari Nuva. He would have carried a weapon similar to the Kodan Ball in one hand, a wide sword made from the Magma Swords in the other, and worn Feet Additions.
Akamai Nuva would not have access to the abilities of the Adaptive Armor.
