The Lightstone Mines of Onu-Metru were the source of all the Lightstones in Metru Nui.

History

The Mines, located deep beneath Metru Nui's surface, provided all of the Lightstones and much of the solid Protodermis used in the city. Once the materials were extracted, they were shipped up to the surface to be picked up by Airships through Lightstone Mine towers that dotted the surface of the Metru. Working in the mines was not considered the most desirable job in Onu-Metru; partly because being an Archivist was considered more glamorous, and partly because the mines sometimes harbored dangerous Rahi or Rahkshi.

During his search for the missing Onu-Matoran Tehutti, Toa Metru Whenua traveled to a Lightstone Mine where the Archivist had been imprisoned by unstable cave debris. After Whenua rescued the Matoran, the Toa and Tehutti departed the mine.

As a result of a battle between Mata Nui and Teridax, the Lightstone Mines mines were severely damaged. Later, the Lightstone Mines, along with all other locations in the Matoran Universe, were dismantled.
