Memory Crystals are objects that Ko-Matoran working in Knowledge Towers used to store information.[1]
History
Frost Beetles were known to break into Knowledge Towers and, once inside, to consume the Memory Crystals held there. Matoro suggested that these Rahi gained their above-average knowledge by devouring the crystals.[2]
After the Matoran of Metru Nui were rendered comatose in the Great Cataclysm, Memory Crystals fell out of use. When the Ko-Matoran resumed work in Metru Nui, Memory Crystals were once again used to store information.
Memory Crystals are still in use after the inhabitants of the Matoran Universe evacuated to Spherus Magna.
Functionality
When Scholars make physical contact with a Memory Crystal, they can transfer data from their minds into the crystal at will.[1]
