== History ==
The Spider Crab species was created by the [[Makuta]] using [[Virus]]es and [[Protodermis#Liquid Protodermis|Liquid Protodermis]] to be one of the Rahi to inhabit the [[Matoran Universe]].{{BookCitation|MGttU|63|entryname=The Makuta}}

When the [[Great Cataclysm]] shattered [[the Pit]] and allowed access to the [[Black Water]] of [[Aqua Magna]], several Spider Crabs migrated to the ocean above and integrated into its natural ecosystem. The escaped [[Barraki]] tamed several Spider Crabs, and used them to patrol their territory.{{OnlineCitation|DSP}}

Approximately 1,000 years later, the Barraki were recaptured by [[Dekar#Hydraxon|Hydraxon]], and the Spider Crabs were released from service.

== Abilities and Traits ==
Spider Crabs have claws, tentacles, armor spikes, and a 40 cm (15.75 inch) thick protective shell. They are capable of reaching speeds up to twenty-five knots (46.3 Kmph / 29 Mph), and can carry one passenger.
