== History ==
The Proto Drake species was created by [[Makuta]] [[Kojol]] using [[Virus]]es and [[Protodermis#Liquid Protodermis|Liquid Protodermis]] to be one of the Rahi to inhabit the [[Matoran Universe]].{{GregCitation|OGDi|page=207|post=8270|lines=2,7}}

Many Proto Drakes made their home in the [[Silver Sea]] that surrounded [[Metru Nui]]. Here, they were regarded with great respect by the [[Ga-Matoran]] and were a welcomed presence in [[Ga-Metru]], as they primarily fed on [[Takea|Takea Sharks]].{{BookCitation|RB|73|entryname=Proto Drake}}

Proto Drakes were later sighted off the coast of [[Ta-Wahi]] on {{p|Mata Nui|Location}},{{BookCitation|BEU|117|entryname=Proto Drake}} having migrated there following the [[Great Cataclysm]]. == Abilities and Traits ==
Proto Drakes are so named for their habit in bathing in [[Ta-Metru]] vats. [[Onu-Matoran]] have theorized that these Rahi do this to remove parasites that attach themselves to the Drakes' bodies.{{BookCitation|RB|73|entryname=Proto Drake}}

The fins of these Rahi allow them to move in water and give them the ability to fly. Proto Drakes capture prey by using the claws on their fins and tail.{{BookCitation|RB|73|entryname=Proto Drake}}
