== History ==
The Nui-Kopen species was created by the [[Makuta]] using [[Virus]]es and [[Protodermis#Liquid Protodermis|Liquid Protodermis]] to be one of the Rahi to inhabit the [[Matoran Universe]].{{BookCitation|MGttU|63|entryname=The Makuta}}

When the [[Great Cataclysm]] struck and caused the creation of the island of {{p|Mata Nui|Location}}, several Nui-Kopen from [[Metru Nui]] migrated to the island and integrated themselves into the [[Le-Wahi]] habitat.{{OnlineCitation|MNOG}}

During the the Dark Time on {{p|Mata Nui|Location}}, Nui-Kopen were possessed by Makuta [[Teridax]] with his [[Infected Kanohi]], and he often forced them and the Nui-Rama to work together, even living in the same [[Nui-Rama Hive|nests]]. Teridax used one of his possessed Nui-Kopen to ambush [[Toa Mata]] [[Lewa]] and then fit him with an Infected Mask. The Nui-Kopen saw the arrival of [[Takua]], who had entered the hive in order to rescue the Matoran, and then sent the infected Lewa to attack him. However, thanks to the [[Battle of Le-Wahi|efforts]] of [[Onua]], Lewa was freed and reclaimed his mask. Lewa quickly used his [[Kanohi]] [[Komau]] to exert mind control on the Nui-Kopen and use it as transport to return the kidnapped [[Matoran]] residents of [[Le-Koro]].

The Nui-Kopen that inhabited Mata Nui retreated back to [[Metru Nui]] after the [[Toa Nuva]] [[Scroll of Preparations|released]] the [[Bohrok]] swarms.{{GregCitation|OGDi|page=34|post=1357|lines=5,20}}

After the [[Great Spirit Robot]] was critically damaged in the [[Battle of Bara Magna]], the surviving Nui-Kopen left the Matoran Universe and immigrated to [[Spherus Magna]].{{GregCitation|OGDi|page=300|post=11964|lines=5,12}}

In [[Karda Nui]], a Nui-Kopen attacked Onua, who retaliated by bashing it into the waters of the [[Swamp of Secrets]].
