== History ==
The Makuta Fish species was created by the [[Makuta]] using [[Virus]]es and [[Protodermis#Liquid Protodermis|Liquid Protodermis]] to be one of the Rahi to inhabit the [[Matoran Universe]].{{BookCitation|MGttU|63|entryname=The Makuta}}

These fish made their homes in the [[Silver Sea]] surrounding [[Metru Nui]]. After the [[Great Cataclysm]], some migrated through the [[Great Barrier]] to the waters of [[Aqua Magna]] above, surrounding the newly-created island of {{p|Mata Nui|Location}}.{{BookCitation|BC4|chapternumber=4|chaptername=Nokama's Tale: Beneath the Surface|page=80}}

During the [[Toa Metru]]'s journey to Mata Nui, one specimen flopped aboard their [[The Lhikan (I and II)|boat]] and displayed its vicious temperament. Matau gave the Makuta Fish its name, claiming that the Rahi's face reminded him of Makuta [[Teridax]]'s features. The name has stuck ever since the incident. [[Nokama]] then cleaned that particular Makuta Fish and used its bones to create her [[Trident]], which she now uses as her [[Badge of Office]].{{BookCitation|BA5}}

After the [[Great Spirit Robot]] was critically damaged in the [[Battle of Bara Magna]], the surviving Makuta Fish within the Matoran Universe immigrated to [[Spherus Magna]].{{GregCitation|OGDi|page=300|post=11964|lines=5,12}}

== Abilities and Traits ==
Makuta Fish have rows and rows of razor-sharp teeth in their mouth. Although any one is powerful enough to survive on its own, they prefer to swim in a school. Together, there is little that can stop them.
