== History ==
The Mines, located deep beneath Metru Nui's surface, provided all of the Lightstones and much of the solid [[Protodermis]] used in the city. Once the materials were extracted, they were shipped up to the surface to be picked up by [[Airship]]s through Lightstone Mine towers that dotted the surface of the Metru. Working in the mines was not considered the most desirable job in Onu-Metru; partly because being an [[Archivist]] was considered more glamorous, and partly because the mines sometimes harbored dangerous [[Rahi]] or [[Rahkshi]].

During his search for the missing [[Onu-Matoran]] [[Tehutti]], [[Toa Metru]] [[Whenua]] traveled to a Lightstone Mine where the Archivist had been imprisoned by unstable cave debris. After Whenua rescued the Matoran, the Toa and Tehutti departed the mine.

As a result of a [[Battle of Bara Magna|battle]] between {{p|Mata Nui|Being}} and [[Teridax]], the Lightstone Mines mines were severely damaged.
