The entry provided the safest access through to the [[Voya Nui Bay]] and to the [[Matoran Cliff Village]]. A Canyon Fortress was built near the entrance to monitor the comings and goings of beings, but this position was rarely occupied. The rogue [[Dark Hunters]], the [[Piraka]], arrived on Voya Nui through the Lagoon Entrance. During Voya Nui's return to its position on the [[Southern Continent]], the Lagoon Entrance merged back into the surrounding sea.{{BookCitation|BL8}}

When [[Teridax]] was killed in the [[Battle of Bara Magna]], the Lagoon Entrance was severely damaged, and the Matoran evacuated to [[Spherus Magna]].
