== History ==
The Hapaka species was created by the [[Makuta]] using [[Virus]]es and [[Protodermis#Liquid Protodermis|Liquid Protodermis]] to be one of the Rahi to inhabit the [[Matoran Universe]].{{BookCitation|MGttU|page=63|entryname=The Makuta}}

Some Hapaka took up residence in [[Metru Nui]]. == Abilities and Traits ==
On Metru Nui, the Hapaka were employed to drive away Kavinika. Although they were certainly fierce enough for the task, they were easily distracted by the chance to chase other Rahi.{{BookCitation|BEU|page=43|entryname=Hapaka}}

In the mountainous regions of Mata Nui, Hapaka traveled from rock to rock with great agility. Hapaka were known for their herding skills and their sharp, barking cry. Therefore, they were often trained to protect the [[Mahi]] herds and [[Husi]] flocks of [[Po-Koro]].<ref name="hapaka"/>

Hapaka are usually friendly and very curious creatures, so they were often taken in as pets.<ref name="hapaka"/>
