== History ==
The Gafna species was created by the [[Makuta]] using [[Virus]]es and [[Protodermis#Liquid Protodermis|Liquid Protodermis]] to be one of the Rahi to inhabit the [[Matoran Universe]].{{BookCitation|MGttU|63|entryname=The Makuta}}

Gafna made their home primarily on the [[Southern Continent]], particularly in the [[Voya Nui]] region. When the [[Great Cataclysm]] caused Voya Nui to rocket upwards to the surface of [[Aqua Magna]], many Gafna were carried with it and survived the ascent.{{OnlineCitation|VNOG}}

Despite Voya Nui's frequent storms, droughts, and volcanic eruptions, the Gafna were amongst the few Rahi to thrive on the new island. However, when the [[Toa Mahri]] destroyed [[the Cord]] and sent Voya Nui back to its place on the Southern Continent, its Gafna population may have not survived the descent.{{GregCitation|CwGF|page=411|post=10805479}}

== Abilities and Traits ==
Gafna are relatively harmless Rahi, but can become more of a problem when they attack in large numbers, using their tails to fire blasts of energy. There are six known breeds of Gafna: [[Fire]], [[Water]], [[Air]], [[Stone]], [[Earth]], and [[Ice]] Gafna, each adapted to living in a different habitat.
