Dekar was initially from the same island as [[Sarda]] and [[Idris]].{{GregCitation|OGD|page=258|post=10295}} After [[Lesovikk]] and [[Toa Cordak|his team]] failed to defeat a tribe of wandering {{p|Zyglak|Species}}, the local [[Turaga]] went mad and sent all of the resident [[Matoran]] to {{p|Karzahni|Location}}, including Dekar.{{OnlineCitation|DroD|3}} There, he was rebuilt into a twisted, weaker form by [[Karzahni (Being)|Karzahni]] himself and given a pair of [[Electro-Blade]]s to compensate for his new body. Along with several other rebuilt Matoran, he was relocated to the [[Southern Continent]]. During the [[Great Cataclysm]], Dekar was on the land mass that broke off and became [[Voya Nui]].{{BookCitation|BL2}}

Several hundred years later, a village that had been built on Voya Nui broke off into the sea, taking Dekar and many other Matoran along with it. The Matoran were briefly exposed to the [[Pit Mutagen|mutagen]] in the water, being partially restored to their original forms. The village landed in a field of [[Airweed]], and was surrounded by an air bubble, protecting the Matoran from mutating further into water breathers. They named the village Mahri Nui.

After the Kanohi Ignika fell into the sea, Dekar was in Mahri Nui when [[Kyrehx]] was attacked by the growing plants around her. He saved her, and then both Matoran hid in a nearby building. There, Kyrehx gave Dekar the mask she had found outside the village, not knowing it was the Mask of Life. Dekar tried to take it to the Matoran Council, but on his way, he was attacked by a [[Venom Eel]]. He soon discovered that anything he tried to kill instantly recovered from its wounds. Dekar decided that the mask needed to be destroyed because he felt it was too powerful. When he attempted to do so, the mask retaliated, creating a [[Venom Eel#300 Foot Mutant Venom Eel|giant Venom Eel]]. After recovering, the Kanohi "spoke" to him, revealing its history and vital purpose. Four of the [[Barraki]] and [[Brutaka]] attempted to persuade him to hand over the mask, but Dekar refused to surrender it.

The warlords then attacked the Matoran, causing him to drop the mask. Despite Dekar's protests, [[Pridak]] stole the mask and promised the fall of the Great Spirit. As he did so, the mask emitted a blinding flash of light, knocking the present Barraki and the Po-Matoran unconscious.{{BookCitation|BL6}} Dekar came to before his captors and left the cave, leaving the mask behind with Pridak. His air bubble thinning, he desperately swam towards Mahri Nui. Dekar's mind and memories were completely buried under Hydraxon's. Hydraxon recruited one of the [[Maxilos]] robots and embarked on a quest to capture everyone in the open ocean, whom he believed to be escaped Pit prisoners.

Upon arriving at [[Mahri Nui]], Hydraxon spotted and captured [[Toa Mahri]] [[Matoro]]. After incarcerating the Toa, Hydraxon brought Maxilos and [[Spinax]] to guard him. He then left the cell to continue his mission. Hydraxon later spied on a Barraki meeting, noting their strengths and weaknesses, and listing the types of weapons he would need to capture them.

While searching for more escaped prisoners, Hydraxon spotted [[Nocturn]] and [[Conflict Between Hydraxon and Nocturn|attacked]] the escapee. Hydraxon was able to defeat Nocturn, and acquired the Mask of Life, which Nocturn had been keeping. Remembering a faint memory from Dekar, he attempted to blast the mask with his [[Cordak Blaster]], believing it too dangerous to be in the Pit.{{BookCitation|BL7}} Toa [[Hahli]] redirected the Cordak mini-rocket with a riptide and engaged him in combat. [[Mantax]] managed to acquire the Ignika in the midst of the fight. Hahli and Hydraxon attempted to attack the warlord, but were drained of energy by Mantax's curse, and sank to the bottom of the ocean. Mantax instructed them to tell the other Barraki to meet him at the [[Razor Whale's Teeth]].

When Mantax had gained enough distance, both Hydraxon and Hahli regained their strength. Hydraxon immediately looked for Nocturn, though the inmate had since fled. The jailer departed in search of Mantax.

Hydraxon later met with a Maxilos in an undersea mountain overlooking the Barraki's meeting. Maxilos attempted to persuade Hydraxon to chase after other escaped prisoners instead. When Hydraxon refused to do so, Maxilos revealed that the armor was being possessed by [[Makuta]] [[Teridax]]. Hydraxon summoned Spinax to attack Teridax using an ancient dialect of [[Languages#Matoran|Matoran]]. When Spinax was defeated, Hydraxon, knowing the amount of power a Makuta may hold, attempted to paralyze the robotic body with well placed daggers. Maxilos/Teridax unleashed a power scream, knocking Hydraxon down. Refusing to be defeated, Hydraxon aimed his Cordak Blaster at the undersea mountain and fired, burying Maxilos/Teridax in a pile of rubble.

Hydraxon then attempted to retrieve the Ignika from [[Jaller]], who had obtained it, but was suddenly attacked by Spinax. After Hydraxon pushed the beast away, Maxilos knocked Hydraxon unconscious.

Later, Hydraxon encountered the Toa Mahri. When he demanded the mask, Matoro offered it and the attached duty to the jailer. Listening to the Toa Mahri's experiences, he eventually agreed to let them go with the Ignika.{{BookCitation|BL8}}

After the battle, and the revival of Mata Nui, Hydraxon came across the damaged body of Maxilos.{{ComicCitation|IC11}} He retrieved the body, now freed from Teridax's control, and took it away in the hopes of repairing it. However, he eventually gave up the task.

While hunting down prisoners, Hydraxon was confronted by Pridak and an army of Takea sharks. The Barraki leader called him a fake, and Hydraxon admitted that others have told him the same. After defeating the Takea and combatting the Barraki, Hydraxon allowed Pridak to tell his story. Pridak explained to the jailer how a Matoran named Dekar had gone missing around the time of Hydraxon's reappearance, and that the Ignika had made a new Hydraxon out of the Matoran, attempting to demoralize him. Hydraxon insisted on his identity and defeated Pridak, jailing the Barraki.{{ComicCitation|HT}}

As he and Spinax continued their task to capture the Pit escapees, Hydraxon was met with assistance from [[Lesovikk]] and [[Sarda]]. Initially, Hydraxon refused help from them because he thought that the Toa and his Matoran companion were escapee prisoners. However, after realizing they were not, he relented and allied with the duo. Since then, they managed to capture several of the former prisoners, including four of the Barraki and Nocturn.

Shortly afterwards, he received a message from Toa Helryx, ordering him to draft the Barraki in the Order's [[Order of Mata Nui-Brotherhood of Makuta War|war]] against the [[Brotherhood of Makuta]]. Although the Order won the war, Teridax still managed to usurp control of the Matoran Universe. == Abilities and Traits ==
Dekar was a skilled Aqua Hunter. He liked solitude and enjoyed hunting. He was brave, but practical enough to flee if he was losing a fight. He always wanted what was best for Mahri Nui, to the point of attempting to destroy the Ignika.{{BookCitation|BL6}}

Hydraxon possesses the [[Hydraxon#Abilities and Traits|same set of abilities]] as the original, including the combat skills and mental shielding, in addition to the sensitive hearing. He also exhibits the same personality, with a single-minded dedication to the justice of his profession. The Ignika gave Dekar the original Hydraxon's memories and suppressed the memories of his time as a Matoran.{{BookCitation|BL7}} While the section of Hydraxon's mind that holds all memories as an Order of Mata Nui member is shielded, the section of his mind that holds his memories as Dekar is not, and is accessible to mind-readers.{{BookCitation|BL8|32}} Despite faint recollections of his time as a Matoran, Hydraxon is oblivious to his origins; even when presented with evidence of his true past, he refuses to acknowledge its legitimacy—including the death of the original Hydraxon—and remains focused on his assigned tasks.{{ComicCitation|HT}}

To allow him to function underwater, the Ignika gave Hydraxon the ability to only breathe water, and made him immune to the effects of the Pit Mutagen. As a result, he wore a [[Breathing Helmet]] to operate in the terrestrial sections of the Pit.{{GregCitation|FF|date=2008-10-17|item=14}} He was later granted the ability to breathe air by Mata Nui with the use of the Ignika and has become amphibious.{{BookCitation|JE}}

Dekar was equipped with two [[Electro-Blade]]s capable of firing a stunning shock. He also wielded an [[Air Launcher]], used to fire spheres of air at water creatures, filling their lungs with air, toxic to them. He also wielded a spear when hunting.{{BookCitation|BL6}} When the Ignika transformed him into Hydraxon, these tools were transformed as well.

Hydraxon carries the same set of weapons and armor as the [[Hydraxon|original]]: a [[Cordak Blaster]], [[Wrist Blades]], as well as [[Exploding Boomerangs]]. He also bears two [[Back Blades]] which can be launched telekinetically.

== Trivia ==
* This Hydraxon was technically never inducted as a member of the Order of Mata Nui. However, as he believes he is the original Hydraxon and retains all of his memories, and the Order is unaware of the original's death, he serves as a member anyway.
* Greg Farshtey indicated that had the original Bionicle storyline continued, Hydraxon might have ended up becoming a bounty hunter of sorts. Meanwhile, the Spherus Magna equivalent of the Pit may have been overseen by [[Glatorian]] and the Maxilos robots.{{GregCitation|OGQ|page=5|post=166}}
